The CATE is the most important workshop about space technology in Latin America. The event´s goal is to bring together Latin American professionals (as well as from other parts of the world) that work in the space sector to exchange experiences of the different projects that are carried out. Some of the examples are exchange programs, agreements and coordination of tasks for the joint work carried out by different bodies, agencies and institutions. The Argentine  Association for Space Technology (AATE) together with other entities is responsible for coordinating the congress every two years in different cities within Argentina.
